We were taught to respect adults first and allowed to make up our minds about them as we got to know them.I carry that philosophy with me to this day...that will never change. As for teachers....when you hear a 4 year old say, "My mommy says I don't have to do anything anybody in this stupid school say to do." You CAN NOT blame that on the teachers. Yeah this happened to me. Mommy didn't like being told she needed to pay her child's tuition (she owed quite a bit). Do not tell me I saw this child as a paycheck....I picked this child up when he would fall. I would hug him when someone hurt his feelings. I held him when he woke up crying with a headache and continued to hold him until his mother could see fit to come pick him up.Sure there are teachers who do it for the paycheck...but that's because the teaching profession is losing their best and their brightest...all because their hands are tied by the "so called" Power's That Be and parents who will not allow someone to tell their child what to do. They need to start them early listening to "orders" from other people...if not when they reach 16 the police will either be booking them in their jails or making a condolence call to the parents.

I do not respect most children's knowledge on how to live, I would let a kid make choices about small things and then as they age, they can determine what to do, and hopefully I would pass down the good things that I was taught. Most kids are like the one Meme speaks of that said... "My mommy says I don't have to do anything anybody in this stupid school say to do" and most Mother's these days say... "You Don't know me" and I often think, "Madam I am glad I don't" Deb, I am all for respecting kids, but what you are saying is just wrong, we will respectively disagree.

If we all thought the same way and lived the same way we would not be living in the United States of America but in the United World of the Stepford robots.

Carolina Girl!
A lot of kids have no manners/discipline/respect whatsoever these days. It’s just unbelievable!Try waiting tables and see what you get. It’s huh?, whUt? , talking or playing games on the cell phone... UGH! And those stupid roller sneakers!!!
It’s not their fault they don’t know how to act. Just look at the Balloon Boy Hoax… what kind of example is this setting for kids?!

It’s refreshing to see, as it’s few and far between in today’s world. Good job, gf!!!
