Its come to my attention that pics that are being posted here at KFS are sometimes hotlinked. This is a big no-no, folks, and heres why.
For those who dont know why hotlinking is, thats when you post the image using the actual URL code for the picture instead of saving the pic and uploading it to your own server i.e. a Photobucket account or other picture hosting website.
When you use the actual URL of the pic from someone elses website to post your pics, you are actually STEALING their bandwidth which they pay for. So in essence, when you use the URL of a pic on, say, KOL or PAULSTANLEY.com, you are stealing bandwidth from the very people we would never want to be stealing from.
I systematically check images which are questionable and, when I find one that is hotlinked, then I have to make the decision to either save the pic, host it on my own Photobucket account and then re-post it, or delete it altogether. This takes up not only my time, but I have to use my bandwidth to host your pic.
All I ask, folks, is that you when you post pics, please remember that the site you get them from does not want to use their bandwidth to host your images for you. Take the time to save them and upload them to your own account. It will save us all a lot of headache in the long run.
Thanks!
