Hi, Andrew! Welcome to KISS Fan Site! Looking forward to seeing you with the band.
First question for you: How does it feel to be chosen as the newest member of the greatest KISS tribute band out there? (How was that, Rich? Also, when will you be relocating to the Cleveland area? |

It feels great! lol It's been a little over a day and the fan response already has been incredible. I can't imagine what kind of response I'll get
at the first show. I'm excited to play again and excited to play for all of you. I feel as if I have to try the hardest in the band right now. Mr. Speed
has set the bar pretty high, and I have to meet that!
I'll be moving to Cleveland right after the new year. I have a few shows left with my original band here. I've been a KISS fan for about 20 years. |

Hi Andrew
Welcome to the KISSily here at KFS Going to ask one of the same questions I asked the other guys (Rich & Joe). Your character is Peter. Are there any particular characteristics or "Peterisms" that you find more of a challenge to get "just right" in your portrayal of him? Does that make sense? |
|||

Good question. It's weird I find myself very naturally falling into the role of Peter Criss. When I'm on stage I don't really have to think
"Well maybe I should do this here or that there." Everything comes naturally. Maybe I was destine to play this role lol
Keep the questions coming! |

Now...I have seen you with & without the make-up. How the heck do you get the "gray" look to your hair. I KNOW you don't have any.

That was NOT me without the makeup. That was my stunt double lol! The grey in my hair happened by accident actually. The silver I use for my nose is a 2 part
mixture. 1 part silver powder and 1 part baby oil. To get the grey in my hair I just take some of the silver powder and work it into my hair in various places.

It looks very realistic.
I have another question for you: What are your favorite KISS songs to perform live? |

Hi Andrew
I've got three questions for you: Why did you chose the drums as your instrument? How old were you? Are you self-taught or did you take lessons?

Was it difficult to decide to leave Myrtle to move to Ohio? WAY different climate!

Wow lots of questions. Okay here we go...
My favorite song to perform live hhhmm It's a tie between Detroit Rock City and Take Me...and King of the Nighttime World Originally I started on guitar but I wasn't very good. I don't remember why but when I started High School I joined the band and was put in the drum line. I never took a formal lesson but my peers and band teacher taught me a lot. With people like Rich, Joe, Ann, and Tina on my side, it made me decision to move VERY easy. |

Are there any other drummers that you look up to (besides Peter)?

They are wonderful people. You will go far.

Mr. Speed plays a lot of "obscure" KISS tunes... Is there a particular tune you have wanted to play live that you have not had a chance to yet?
"...RELAX...All your problems are solved...KISS IS HERE!!! "

I have a lot of favorite drummers. Funny thing is I didn't start playing drums because of Peter, it was Tommy Lee. Aside from Tommy I really enjoy Carmine
Appice, Eric Singer, John Bonham, and Keith Moon.
I love that Mr. Speed really dives into the KISS catalog and plays all the obscure songs we love. One I hope we do next year is A Million to One or Mainline. I would also love to do Getaway or Anything for My Baby. |

Hi Andrew! So prior to the Dayton Expo, had you performed with any other tribute bands at expos in the past? And can you share with us your
feelings/experiences of Kiss Expos. Thanks!
|
|||
mrspeedpeter |
|||

Dayton was the first expo I played but not the first I attended. Hopefully 2009 will allow us to play a lot more expos. It's a great way to connect to fans
and to play a lot of obscure songs.

Welcome Andrew to KISSFANSITE and MR SPEED. Look forward to seeing you again. Good job in Dayton by the way. Do you always feel that there is something in
percussion to learn? Do you ever record yourself to hear how far you have come improvement wise?

Hey, Andrew! Merry Christmas!
Out of curiosity, I saw you had your Love Gun outfit up on eBay a while back. Can you let us in on what your new outfit with Mr. Speed will be? |
|||
mrspeedpeter |
|||
|
Jeff! Great question. I do always feel there is something more I can learn, not just percussion wise but in music generally. I do not record myself..mostly in
fear that I will capture a bad performance lol But I do practice to a click track so it's easy for me to hear how fast I can play a pattern over time.
The great thing about Mr. Speed is that we don't wear the same tired old Love Gun costume every tribute band wears. I have a Destroyer one and I can't wait to wear it at the first show! I hope every one had a great KISSmas and has a great New Year! |
