The public memorial service is free.
If a person's application is accepted, tickets will be distibuted for either the service in the Staples Center or a live broadcast in the adjacent Nokia Theatre.
Michael's body will not be there. A private family memorial has not been set.

It's better to remember him during the better times. Like when he was on stage or his videos and albums.

I think it shouldn't be open for public as well. It'd be creepy seeing him lifeless, while to me he is pure energy. I don't wanna see it. Just like I didn't wanna see James Brown's dead body.
On the other hand, it's a way for his fans to say good bye. Michael loved his fans and he has always been sad that he couldn't thank each and everyone personally for their support. This guy didn't trust a lot of people, because he's been betrayed often. His fans,...

They should have a viewing for the family only.

I think Michael should be cremated.

There is some strong indication that a public memorial will be on Tuesday at 10AM at the Staples Center. I have been there. I saw Ozzy/Zombie in Dec. 2007 there. It is VERY big. That being said, here they are reporting that the streets around that area (Figueroa being one near Downtown LA) are being closed down. Supposedly there is no mention of what BUT the strong inclination is that it will be because of MJs funeral...
